GOOD OLD DAYS

Let's forget the regrets and the debts that lie behind us
Let us smile for a while at a style from before the war
Let's refrain from the claims and the chains that now surround us
And let us dream of scheme to redeem what seemed to be so sure
We had Marlene, we had Vera, times were tough but what an era
Now the good old days don't live here anymore

Let us try not to cry 'bout the lies they used to tell us
And let's accept for a fact that respect is not for sale
And the well repeated story of the hope, the guts, the glory
In retrospect was just another tale

Then there were men, little men with plans we were not aware of
We were naive to believe that are grieves would be taken care of anyhow

Now the noise of the toys for the boys has long subsided
And the call for the wall to fall had died away
They were mad, we said. or bad - and the denied it
Now it's gone, we have won, it was fun - for about a day
We're still imprisoned by the visions or the whims of politicians
Seems the good old days are really here to stay
